I think my official birthday jam has become “Gotta Get Yo Groove On”, but I’ve been on this James Brown kick for a couple of weeks, so that’s where I’m goin’ with it. Besides, without James Brown, who knows if Tevin or anybody else would be groovin’ anyway?
I know I’m supposed to be on hiatus, but I’m… me. There’s somethin’ I’m itchin’ to share, so, here it is. When I hear most contemporary music, I cringe, and –almost always– some narrow-minded, good-intentioned soul puts on some “good” music. You know: the Erykah Badu-ish or Marvin Gay-ish kind. While I have nothing against Queen Badu or King Marv, I do take issue with being fed the same songs over and over again. “So In Love with You” gives me a break from the same ol’ same ol’.
I don’t fancy myself a religious person, but whatever inspires me, then so shall it be. That being written, I’m not a Christian (though my friend, Joy, says I’m in denial), but there are some gospel songs without which I can’t function, and “Stomp” is on of ’em.

I love Salt-n-Pepa, and I love this song, but I can’t do the for real writin’ thing right now. Just know that between the beat and lyrics, and the motivation it gives me, this song is one of my favorites. Let me know what you think. Kenisha
