This mornin’, I’d gotten off to a shaky start. After musterin’ the courage to ask my tutor for a modified session (and after she was gracious enough to humor my request), I started with some Eddy Kenzo, which led to this favorite (which really got me goin’), then rolled into this old favorite by Common. About a month ago, a Senegalese friend, Pape, asked me to send him a list of my favorite songs. I told him I’d only be able to send a partial list; a full list would take from here to eternity to complete. In lieu of the list, and because I post music in the his space –under the “Music” category– I’m going to post my favorite music, here. “Music” is now “For Pape”.
Concerning Brand New Heavies, I’m a “Dream on Dreamer” and “Never Stop” kind of girl. Today, though, I need a little kick in the pants. Inspiration is everywhere, even in songs about doin’ the right thing. For me, today, this song is about doin’ right by myself; today, creating my history, so that my future agrees with me. To be happy, sometimes, you really do have to make happy happen, even when you’re not feelin’ the process. Brand New Heavies – “Sometime”
